Happy Birthday, Evangeline

Friday afternoon, for Evangeline's 10th birthday (December 1st), we had about 15 girls over to our house for games and cake. That night, we also had the entire elementary/middle school co-op over for an open house so it was a long and busy day!
The little girls always love coming over to play, and they especially liked my cupcakes! :) I was very proud of the cupcakes because powdered sugar can only be bought at import stores here, and icing is not a common treat. I think the favorite game is usually the treasure hunt, and let me tell you, those girls get competitive! Thankfully, everyone ends up a winner. Although it can seem frantic trying to keep a houseful of guests entertained (some moms and siblings also came along), it is fun to be able to spend time with all the girls. Later that night, our house was not a peaceful place with about 35 children running around, but we are always blessed when we are able to host the Koreans in our home.

Organizing the games

The final round of the pillow game (notice the flying stuffed animals)

Blind Man's Bluff

Nope - wrong guess!

Ahhh, my beautiful cupcakes!

Koreans always eat sitting on the floor which works well when you don't have the furniture to seat everyone

My plate of food during the open house - I've actually been enjoying Korean food more and more the past few weeks, and I can even tolerate some kimchi. (Trust me, that's major progress!)

Happy Birthday, Evangeline! It looks like you had a grand party -- what a houseful!! Great pictures, too. We can almost imagine being there with you. :)

Love and prayers from our whole crew....

Cole would like to know: "Calculating the time change, if Evangeline is 10 here then how old is she in Korea?
That's some time difference!
Made me smile too.

haha...I'm glad there isn't THAT big of a time difference. It's hard enough trying to contact people during office hours when it's the middle of the night here. Actually, Koreans use a different system for counting age, so Evangeline is technically 11 here!
